St. Augustine National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located on Marine Street in the historic district of the Ancient City of St. Augustine, Florida. It is located on the grounds of the active military installation known as St. Francis Barracks, the state headquarters of the Florida National Guard. The cemetery encompasses 1.4 acres with the first interment in 1823. Veterans of the two Seminole Indian Wars were first to be burial in the cemetery. The Dade Monument is a grouping of three coquina pyramids, which were erected in 1842 to mark the end of the Second Seminole Wars; beneath these three pyramids are the remains of 1,468 soldiers who died during the war.
